About Mosaic

What is a Charter School?
A charter school is an independent public
school of choice with its own governing board
to make decisions and set policy. This gives a
charter school greater freedom to design and
develop an innovative curriculum and to
utilize different instructional strategies, while
still meeting state-mandated content and
performance standards. Charter schools are
funded in the same way as other public
schools, receiving a specified amount per child enrolled. There is NO charge to students who attend Mosaic Academy.

Design Principles
*Appropriate challenge: Instruction will
be differentiated and will encourage and
support all students as they use and
develop individual strengths in all
learning areas.

*Wholistic education: Literacy-rich,
authentically-integrated curriculum will
emphasize the connections and
interdependence between learner,
teacher, content and environments.

*Multiage settings: Students will be
grouped in multiage (cross-grade level)
clusters promoting collaboration and
mentoring. This structure will support
individual students as they work and
interact at their own academic and social
levels and will also provide peer and staff
continuity.
